The Mystique Bitterroot Valley

The Bitterroot Valley Day Drive is about about 95 miles from Missoula to Lost Trail Pass, Montana. The route is an exceptionally beautiful valley known for its trout fishing and scenic old timber towns.

The road trip features the Wild Bitterroot Mountains, the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge, Little Rock Creek, Teller Wildlife Refuge, Lake Como, the Bitterroot River, and Lost Trail Powder Mountain Ski Area.

You can extend your trip past the necessary two hours, explore the area for a couple of days, and make the drive a long weekend. Extending your drive allows you to explore the unique creeks, go fishing, take a dip in the hot springs, and explore a nearby trail.

From Dillon to Polaris, Montana, the campgrounds available are the Sula Campground, Spring Gulch Campground, Moosehead Campground, Double Rocking R Fish Campground, Bitterroot Valley Campground, and the Larry Creek Campground.
