The trailhead is in the Many Glacier area (Babb, MT) of Glacier National Park.
If you can't make it all the way to the end of the trail, great destinations include Fishercap Lake, Redrock Lake, and Swiftcurrent Lake along with the vast and abundant wildlife.
You are likely to see some of the following creatures on your journey: moose, birds, bears, sheep, and goats. You'll also get great views of the wildflowers, surrounding lakes, and views down the mountain. The scenery changes during the different seasons.
The rapid gain in elevation makes big hiking boots and thick socks a necessity. The incline is not the only caution of this trail; the path gets very skinny. There are many blind corners and you'll walk across steep, rocky cliffs.
This trail is daunting, but all who finish agree, "it was worth it." So bring bug and bear spray and enjoy as much of this trail as you can.
