Quick Summary

Story

Smith Lake via Swift Creek Loop is an excellent hike near Whitefish, Montana. It's a pleasantly quiet and not too crowded wooded trail that features Smith Lake.

The trail is fairly flat except for a few steep sections. The climb isn't strenuous but may be made harder by the sun. There is little to no shade on most of the trail, so sunscreen and a hat are recommended.

The closer you are to the water, the worse the bugs get. We recommend coming prepared with bug spray to make the most of your adventure.

Dogs are welcome on the trail and can be let off the leash as long as they are well-behaved. Please clean up after your pups. There are provided mutt mitts on the trail to encourage your cooperation.

Overall, this is a beautiful hike on a well-maintained trail that you and your pup can enjoy.
