Story

Below Timber Dam on the Marias River is Sanford Park. The area features streamside, grassland, sagebrush, lake, and cliff habitats, making it an ideal place for a variety of bird species. It's a popular birdwatching destination in Central Montana from late May to mid-July.

The species that tend to frequent the park are the Say's Phoebes, Mountain Bluebirds, Black-Headed Grosbeaks, Brown Thrashers, Yellow-Breasted Chats, Prairie Falcons, Merlins, Bald Eagles, Golden eagles, Ferruginous and Swainson's Hawks, Caspian Terns, Brewer's Sparrows, Lark Sparrows, and the occasional Great Horned and Eastern Screech Owls.
