This park trail is an easy-ish hike brimming with breathtaking views, walking bridges, rolling paths, and waterfalls. Ousel Falls is in the Custer Gallatin National Forest, near Big Sky and Gallatin Gateway, Montana. The trail starts and ends at Big Sky Community Park, runs along the river, and ends with an awesome waterfall.
You'll be immersed in the beautiful outdoors as soon as you exit your vehicle and follow the well-maintained, paved trail down into the canyon. This is not a flat trail; the path has about 300 ft of elevation change during the hike. Maybe skip the flip-flops for this one!
There are lots of side trails and paths to explore.
It is only 0.8 miles from the parking lot to the actual falls, so this is a short adventure but well worth the trip out. Every family member (even the four-legged ones) will love the time spent doing this hike.
Ousel Falls trail is a winter wonderland during winter. Clothing layers and appropriate footwear are highly recommended.
This is a heavily trafficked trail and can be very busy during weekends and afternoons, so maybe try a weekday or catching a sunset.
