Quick Summary

Story

The elevation gain makes this a moderate hike. If you go left at the first fork after the Biscuit Basin and back out, you avoid most of the difficult parts of the trail and make it to the falls fairly quickly.

The Mystic Falls, Fairy Creek, and Little Firehole Loop is a less busy hike than some others in the area, but it offers amazing rewards! There are wide open panoramic views of the area, beautiful and colorful hot springs, and waterfalls — which alone are worth the trek. There's also lots of wildlife!

You first experience geyser basin, then the dense forest, and then along the Little Firehole River to beautiful falls. The trail is well marked, so you are sure to find your way.

To get the most from this trip, you will want to take the following path: start at the trailhead in Biscuit Basin to the Mystic Falls Trail, which turns into Fairy Creek and Little Firehole, which then loops back into the rest of Mystic Falls Trail and out to the other side of Biscuit Basin.

You might even time it right to see Old Faithful erupt from the trail's summit!

Bring both bug and bear spray for safety.
