Mount Wright Trail is a strenuous hike near Choteau, Montana. The trail offers beautiful sights, but the rocky terrain and relentless elevation gain make the climb and descent difficult.
The first two miles of the climb that head north are a breeze. After that, the elevation gain becomes difficult and does not stop. There are almost no switchbacks to help with the elevation gain.
The rocky path isn't fun and makes descending difficult.
The only sign indicating the trailhead looks burned, but there's a pullout to the left with a gate.
The views on the trail are amazing and get progressively better as you climb higher. The top offers a panoramic view.
We recommend sunscreen and layers because the burnt forest means little shade as you climb.
The cool, clear water of the Teton at the end of your hike is a refreshing reward for your efforts.
