The Montana Scenic Loop is a fun adventure and a beautiful drive that features Central Montana and circles the largest stretch of wilderness in the continental US.
While exploring the Bob Marshall Wilderness, you'll encounter humble towns and incredible views. The landscape varies drastically from heavily forested valleys, wet and dry forest areas, massive mountain peaks, open prairie, lakes, and rivers.
The drive features four National Forests (Flathead National Forest, Lolo National Forest, Helena National Forest, and the Lewis and Clark National Forest) and 15 different communities in Montana (Augusta, Bigfork, Browning, Bynum, Choteau, Columbia Falls, Condon, Dupuyer, East Glacier, Essex, Hungry Horse, Lincoln, Ovando, Seeley Lake, and West Glacier).
It takes about 10 hours to complete this loop, starting and finishing in Great Falls, Montana. We suggest allowing for more time to explore some of the communities on the drive truly. You'll have unique opportunities to expand your adventure with hiking, sailing, golfing, whitewater rafting, fishing, horseback riding, rock climbing, or skiing.
