Fun day hike in a (relatively) quiet corner of Glacier National Park. The hike is on the longer side for a day (12.4 miles out and back), but little elevation gain helps make it achievable as a day hike. This GNP entrance is accessed via a 5 mile dirt road (Cut Bank Creek Road) just off US89 between East Glacier and Saint Mary. This hike is best done between late June and late August. Even hiking in June there can be some snow left on the trail and around the lake. If the timing is just right wildflowers carpet the meadows on the way to Medicine Grizzly Lake. The trail follows North Fork Cut Bank Creek for quite some time with cascades you can see from the trail.
The trailhead is shared with several other great hikes, such as Morning Star Lake and Triple Divide Pass. There is also a first come first serve primitive campground at Cut Bank.
