Lost Cabin Lake Trail is in the Tobacco Root Mountain range in Deerlodge National Forest. It begins at the west end of Bismark Reservoir and shares a trailhead with Louise Lake Trail.
A high clearance vehicle might be necessary when driving beyond the Curly Creek trailhead.
The trail travels through old pine and spruce forest and has several brook crossings. There are a few steeper sections, but the trail is significantly less steep than the neighboring Louise Lake Trail. It's also the preferred trail if you're looking to avoid a crowd.
Lost Cabin Lake is not only beautiful, but it also offers excellent Cutthroat Trout fishing.
Until mid-July, this trail is often still icy, muddy, and difficult to navigate.
