Lava Lake Trail and Cascade Creek

Laval Lake Trail is in Custer Gallatin Forest near Gallatin Gateway, Montana. This trail climbs a great deal but to an awesome lake surrounded by beautiful peaks.

The trail leads you into the Cascade Canyon before Lava Lake. The trek is not very difficult; the elevation change is gradual.The first half of the hike can be boring but the second half is awesome!

Because the trip up to the lake is all uphill, the trip down can be rough if you have bad knees.
