Lake Shel-oole Campground and ballfield complex offers year-round recreational opportunities about 1/2 a mile north of Shelby, Montana.
The most popular things to do in the area are fly fishing in the summer months and ice fishing in the winter. If you aren't into fishing, people also love ice skating, nature trails, and hiking around the dam.
The 46 campgrounds below the dam make staying in the area for a fun family- friendly weekend a breeze. There are clean showers and hot water at the Lake Shel-oole Campground.
There is a five-mile asphalt trail that is popular among locals called the Roadrunner Recreation Trail. It runs adjacent to the campground and reservoir and is an excellent opportunity to exercise and see the beautiful Shelby prairie lands.
