Iceberg Lake Trail is in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park. It's a longer out-and-back hike that delivers spectacular views of the Many Glacier area and wildlife. We had so much fun on this hike brimming with wildflowers, trees, creeks, and the incredible lake! And we saw birds, bears, marmots, and a moose!
In our opinion, the hiking trail is relatively easy, but would be called moderate because of the length. Also the very beginning of the trail is the most steep of the entire trail, but it doesnβt last long. The rest of the trail has some slight incline stretched over the almost five mile walk to the lake. Take your time and enjoy each stage of this remarkable hike! The panoramic views and trail's end at Iceberg Lake (named for the presence of floating icebergs) ensure a sweet journey and a stunning reward! A few brave souls even jump into the icy water from an iceberg!
The Iceberg Lake/Ptarmigan Tunnel trailhead is found behind the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn β about 500 yards NW of the mercantile/restaurant building. You can park anywhere in the parking lot for the motor inn and walk to the trailhead, but there is a small parking lot just for the trailhead that's hidden behind the cabins for the inn and the employee cabins.
We recommend coming prepared for this long trek with layers, sunscreen, food, water, and bear spray!
Thank you so much Jordan Lefler (@jordanlefler)for the amazing photography you provided of Iceberg Lake! We love seeing your work!
