This section of Lewis and Clark National Forest offers many free campsites along Hughesville Rd. You'll have a variety in choice of campsites, there are both secluded private campspots as well as large group sites with a pit toilet. We entered from the town of Monarch. The creekbed along the road appears dry when you first enter the area, but keep going, there are many sites that have great creek access that you can play in the water right from your campsite! We found two sites that we were able to park our 23 ft. long trailer at with plenty of room. There are numerous ATV trails and it seemed like a popular spot. Please pack in and pack out and you are definitely in bear country, so plan accordingly!
