This trail is popular for a reason! If you can coordinate vehicles or two hiking parties, experiencing the entire 26.6 mile trail is a must. If you depart from Cooke City rather than the East Rosebud Trailhead, the hike is all downhill except for the first 6 miles. There are a myriad of lakes, waterfalls, and streams along the way. You can't hike more than a mile without seeing something new and spectacular. Mountain goats populate the area, but so do bears so stay alert.
