Story

Curly Lake Trail is a beautiful and strenuous hike in the Deerlodge National Forest.

The trail immediately starts up a steep hillside and levels off in alpine meadows, where wildflowers surround you. From here, there is a fantastic view of Middle Mountain to the south.

You'll hike along the grassy hillside for a bit before meandering through the lush woods alongside Curly creek. There are about 3 miles of switchback climbing before reaching the lake.

Once you're above the tree line, the views of the mountains from behind Curly Lake are undoubtedly beautiful.

This is a long trail with rugged sections and steep grades. If you plan on hiking the entire trail, you may want to plan on camping.
