Crown Mountain is in the Scapegoat Wilderness, near Augusta, Montana. The peak makes up some of the southern Rocky Mountain Front on the Sawtooth Range.
The trailhead is on Benchmark road. Take the gravel road west for about 20 miles to Crown Mountain trailhead (No. 270).
This is a whole day hike, and it's recommended for experienced hikers only. Double Falls Campground is close to the trailhead and would make a great place to rest after taking on this trail. The hike is a mix of lush wood scenery and the summit ridge.
Overall, the hike is extensive but beautiful. The summit offers panoramic views of the Rocky Mountain Front, The Bob Marshell Wilderness, and the Great Plains.
