Council Grove State Park is the site of the 1855 Hellgate Treaty between the Salish, Kalispel and Kootenai Indians and the U. S. government.

Story
This park is right outside Missoula and is a great stop for a picnic. There's plenty of history in the area and a lot to be learned. The grove of trees is beautiful and there is a nice shoreline along the river.

Montana residents who pay the $9 state parks fee with their annual vehicle registration have no daily entrance fees to state parks. For residents who don't include this in their vehicle registration, non-resident day use fees apply.
