Quick Summary

Story

Carter Ponds is a state fishing access site that's popular for ice fishing and birdwatching. The area is composed of two different 30-acre ponds.

Carter Ponds are also available for boating and kayaking. If you are operating a boat, you must do so at a no-wake speed.

Carter Ponds are also popular spots for area bird watching. You can commonly see American Widgeon, Northern Pintail, Ring-necked Duck, Common Goldeneye, Lesser Scaup, Yellow-headed and Red-winged Blackbirds, and Prairie Falcon species.

The site makes for a fantastic, family-friendly weekend getaway. The popular Limekiln hiking trail is just northeast of the site, and the SRA Campground is only five miles away.
