We found this quick & easy spot to camp 1.8 miles down a gravel road, and on the edge of Rock Creek. The site seems big enough for a few cars to park in the dirt and put your tents in the trees near the creek.
When we were there in September 2021, and Rock Creek still had flowing water and was pretty cute. Access to the creek was very easy, and there are plenty of tall pine trees that provide shade and places to pitch a tent.
This is bear country, so be sure to correctly store food items! There are three campgrounds nearby, so you could check for open sites at the campgrounds if this exact spot is taken.
You should be able to get here easily by clicking on driving directions. But here are my driving directions if needed... Turn from HWY 212 onto Main Fork Rock Creek Road. There are three forest service campgrounds on the first mile of this road. Drive past Parkside Campground, Greenough Lake Campground, and then turn left immediately after passing Limber Pine Campground onto Rock Creek Road (FS Rd 421). After turning left, drive another 0.9 miles, and the campsite will be down on your left in an open area by the creek. This wouldn’t be a good camping spot for a trailer, unless you have a short, crazy off-road capable trailer.
Have fun!
