Quick Summary

Story

Campfire Lake Trail is in the Custer Gallatin National Forest in the Crazy Mountain Range. It's a fantastic trail, but it's not common to run into others while in the area.

When you get to the fork in the trail, take a left towards Trespass Creek (there are helpful signs along the way).

The landscape on the trail is diverse and changes multiple times. You'll walk through a thick forest, into open meadows, follow creeks, and finish at a narrow ridge with unbeatable views of the area.

It's a quiet and challenging trek to Campfire Lake, but the view from the ridge before you descend is very impressive!

If you choose to descend to the lake to fish for some Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout, consider camping in the area. The hike to Campfire Lake is long, and the climb up from the lake can be grueling.
