Cabin Creek Trail is in the Hebgen Lake Day Use Area near West Yellowstone in Montana. The trail follows the beautiful rolling Cabin Creek. The trail is a pretty gradual climb the whole way. Hiking poles may be beneficial in some of the narrower sections of the climb.
The trail itself is narrow and rocky and can be covered in sharp shale fragments. If you are hiking with a doggo, mittens might be necessary. The trail can be hard to navigate with young kiddos, but it's relatively family-friendly.
The hike is stunning, but there's no specific destination. No matter when you turn around, the adventure is sure to be beautiful. First, you walk close to the river and then up into a canyon. From here, you will get into thick forest area. We recommend bringing bug spray, especially for this part of the trail. The trail continues to enter in and out of wide-open alpine meadows.
Cabin Creek Trail is a beautiful area, and you can stay at the Cabin Creek Campground if you want to explore it for longer.
