Quick Summary

Story

Every year, about 150 elk return to their winter home at the Blackleaf Wildlife Management Area. The Blackleaf area is a series of snow-free refuges. It's made up of the Boone and Crockett Ranch, Pine Butte, Sun River, and Ear Mountain.

Blackleaf Wildlife Management Area is an excellent place for wildlife viewing, camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting.

With the proper permits, you can hunt for white-tailed deer, mule deer, elk, bear, upland game birds, and waterfowl.

We suggest finding a spot on the country road, getting warm, and enjoying the wildlife through a pair of binoculars.

Vehicle travel is prohibited from December 1st through May 15th. From May 15th to July 1st, the road to Antelope Reservoir is only open to foot traffic.
