Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area

The "Grand Canyon of Montana", Bighorn Canyon is a beautiful area with lots to see and do. There is a northern entrance through Fort Smith, MT, but the southern entrance through Lovell, WY offers more in terms of recreation. There are campgrounds within Bighorn Canyon with pit toilets available. The area has a lot of unique geological features such as rare wildflowers, bright red rock beds, and beautiful desert shrubbery. Maps of available of the area at the visitors centers stationed at both entrances. There are boat ramps available and many kayakers float this section of the river. The canyon is only 1.75 hours southeast of Billings, MT.
