Quick Summary

Story

Beaver Ponds Trail is in Thompson Park Municipal Recreation Area near Butte, Montana. It climbs to several old beaver ponds that connect with the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail.

It's an ideal mountain biking trail for riders looking for a challenge. Some riders begin their ride at Pipestone Pass and ride down the trail and back up on Montana Highway 2 to make the trail a loop.

If you don't mind extending your hike (about a mile there and back), there's an incredible vista overlooking the mountains. You'll come to a fork at the end of the trail and see a sign that points to "the Continental Divide, Home State South Trailhead, JCT interstate 90, Pipestone Pass Trailhead, and JCT. MT. State. HWY. 2." To extend your hike, go left at this sign and up some switchbacks for another half mile.
