Quick Summary

Story

Arod Lake is a wildlife refuge in Central Montana. The area is 800-acres about 15 miles northeast of Choteau.

The trip is worth taking the beaten path to see Arod Lakes Waterfowl Production Area. The area has three leading lakes and several smaller ponds and canals.

The area primarily provides habitats for breeding and migrating birds. It also offers year-round recreational bird-watching, game and bird hunting, and fishing opportunities.

At different times of the year, you can see any number of these species in the area: Waterfowl, Ring-Necked Pheasants, Gray Partridges, Mule, and White-Tailed Deer, Snow Geese, Ring-Billed and California Gulls, Double-

Crested Cormorants, Canada Geese, and White Pelicans.

There is also a boat launch for carry-in or four-wheel drive trailers, so you can enjoy boating the lakes. We suggest camping at the lake for a few days and getting the most out of your adventure, but there's a 14-day camping limit.
